At a fall camp scrimmage last week, Kansas wide receiver Lawrence Arnold played full-contact football for the first time since the Guaranteed Rate Bowl in December 2023. Arnold has dealt with a slight injury during KU’s offseason, which limited his ability to practice and participate fully in live periods during the spring.
The senior, entering his fifth year at KU, is making sure his body — and his mind — are poised for a continuation of his previous successful seasons. Last year, Arnold racked up 44 receptions for 782 yards and hauled in six touchdowns.
When Arnold was sidelined in the spring due to the lower leg injury, he took on a different capacity, which he thinks will prepare him for an even better 2024 season.
“I was more so in the coaching role,” Arnold said. “I was helping with the huddles. So I was telling guys what position they’re in, what personnel we’re in, what’s the play call for the quarterback. And I’d say that actually helped me more so on the football side of being a player because it helped me learn the plays.”
