Breaking news:.Terrence Shannon Jr announce his resignation and departure NBA remarks….
Terrence Shannon Jr.’s journey to the NBA was longer than that of most first-rounders, including a trying last year in college with an off-the-court challenge that cast doubt over his professional prospects.
Shannon landed with the Minnesota Timberwolves, a place that sure looks like an ideal fit.
The Timberwolves took Shannon out of Illinois with the 27th overall draft pick, their original selection, in the first round last week after making a trade with San Antonio to obtain the eighth overall pick for the rights to Rob Dillingham from Kentucky.
Shannon was found not guilty last month on a rape charge after a jury in Kansas spent less than two hours deliberating. He’d been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a bar last year while on a road trip to attend a football game, leading to a suspension by the school that eventually was halted by a federal judge’s ruling that his civil rights had been violated. Shannon testified at the trial he’d never seen the woman. His lawyers called the case a “blind accusation.”
Terrence Shannon Jr. led the Wolves in scoring again, putting up 19 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field. He also added 4 rebounds, 2 steals, three blocks and two assists in the performance.
The No. 27 overall pick has paced the Wolves in scoring so far in two games, as he scored 25 points in the Friday victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Minnesota had a strong second quarter on both sides of the ball, outscoring Indiana 25-16 entering the half up by 51-44.
The Timberwolves dominated points in the paint (48-26) and fastbreak points (26-17) while forcing the Pacers to turn the ball over 23 times in comparison to only turning it over nine times.
Josh Minott recorded a double-double, putting up 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Jaylen Clark filled up the stat sheet, recording six steals, a block and nine points. He showed his defensive prowess all game that the Timberwolves could definitely see fitting into the regular rotation at some point.
Daishen Nix also played a great game offensively, tallying 16 points (4-for-9 from the field, 7-for-12 from the free throw line), 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
No. 8 overall pick Rob Dillingham continues to try and find his shooting stroke, as he only shot 5-for-14 from the field but was 2-for-4 from the three-point line. He finished with 14 points, 8 assists and two steals.
Dillingham also showed he can hit tough shots close to the basket, such as this floater.
