Breaking news;Alabama football’s Kalen Deboer wont be attending the Alabama v Georgia match, details in……
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer has made a significant impact both on and off the field since taking the reins of the Tide. Among his many initiatives, one stands out: the “Tide’s Teammates” program. This special effort focuses on providing support to young Alabama fans facing difficult challenges, offering them unique opportunities to meet the team and lift their spirits.
Thanks to this initiative, a young fan from Opp, Alabama, was able to turn a frightening medical diagnosis into a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the Crimson Tide.
Brooks Lunsford, a 12-year-old student at Opp Middle School and member of the Opp High School Marching Black and Gold Band, was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. However, during this medical journey, an even more pressing issue was discovered.
“He ended up having a hole in his large intestine and had to have emergency surgery,” said Brooks’ mom, Jennifer Lunsford. “It was very scary. The surgeons were straightforward with us—they didn’t sugarcoat anything. They told us that if the surgery didn’t happen, he would have passed away. But Brooks is a fighter. He came into this world really small, born at just 25 weeks, weighing only one pound and three ounces, so he’s been a fighter from the beginning.
