For Reychel Douglas, the top 2023 girls’ basketball recruit in the state, planners and schedules are just as important as pull-up jumpers and screen-and-rolls as she works through the back half of a decorated prep career. Her discipline in duality isn’t new, but it impresses her coach, Dan Cortright, all the same.
“She’s able to take on a lot of different things and be very good in what she does,” Cortright said, “and not many kids are like that. If they’re being recruited as much as she is, that’s what they want to focus on. They don’t really care about the school aspect. And that’s not Reychel. If she’s in it, she’s in it.”
Just call her a wearer of many hats. Or Adidas headbands. That, paired with a long-sleeved dri-fit white T-shirt, has become Douglas’ gameday attire of choice as she leads a surging Millbrook program into the state playoffs while grabbing Power Five scholarship offers and national recruiting attention on the side.
Douglas, a 6-foot guard/forward, ranks as a four-star prospect per espnW. At No. 53, she is also the only North Carolina recruit to appear on the website’s
