good news; Jasper Johnson has announce full commitment to Kentucky big 12 confirnms…….
It was announced Monday that five-star shooting guard Jasper Johnson will reveal his college commitment on September 5.
The second-ranked shooting guard in the nation has been one of the most sought-after players in the Class of 2025 and will make his final college decision next week. Johnson’s top-five list of schools includes North Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, Arkansas, and Alabama, but experts believe the real competition is between the UNC basketball program, Kentucky, and Alab
A fair share of fans and analysts speculate that Johnson will forgo the opportunity to play in Chapel Hill and instead play for his hometown team, the Kentucky Wildcats, where his father, Dennis Johnson, was a star football player. Despite the family ties in Lexington, the six-foot-four guard has spoken highly of the Tar Heels.
In an interview with On3 Sports, Johnson revealed that Hubert Davis and the coaching staff at North Carolina have been persistent in their recruitment and have been keeping close contact with the Class of 2025 recruit and his family.
“Coach (Hubert) Davis tells me if he could get me now as a reclass or stay (in 2025), he wants me whenever. He definitely says he wants me to play for him next year or whenever I want to. So him giving me that message and then coach (Sean) May is texting me and my parents every single day. Just building that relationship and that bond.”
The rising senior from Lexington, Kentucky, recently announced that he will transfer schools for his final high school season and play with Overtime Elite in Atlanta, Georgia.
Johnson competed in the EYBL Peach Jam event this summer, averaging nearly 20 points per game, further solidifying his status as one of the nation’s elite scorers.
