DEAL CLOSE;Luton  Finally Sign £60m-rated Liverpool Belgian Star.

Luton were promoted to the Premier League last season and after losing their opening two matches, they are looking to strengthen before the window closes.

They want a new defender in order to improve and are set to bring in United defender Mengi after agreeing a deal with the Red Devils.

The 21-year-old centre-back has made just two senior appearances for United, coming off the bench in the Champions League against BSC Young Boys and against LASK in the Europa League.

Mengi has featured more heavily for United’s U21 and U18 teams and has also spent two loans in the Championship with Birmingham City and Derby County.

He is now set to swap Old Trafford for Kenilworth Road and according to reports, it could impact Luton’s interest in signing Holding from Arsenal.

The Hatters have conceded seven goals in defeats to Brighton and Chelsea as Rob Edwards’ team look to climb the table.

Arsenal are keen to offload the 27-year-old centre-back before the summer transfer window closes and Luton were among the teams linked to him.

Holding faced plenty of criticism last season when he replaced the injured William Saliba in Arsenal’s starting XI, as the Gunners’ Premier League title challenge fell apart.

Despite the reports that Luton could be out of the race for Holding, it is believed that Wolves and Crystal Palace are interested in the Englishman.
