SAD VIEW:Jurgen Klopp says 32-year-old Liverpool player is now injured not in for  Sunday.

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has had a setback after making a return to team training.

Thiago hasn’t played for Liverpool since February, and underwent surgery on a hip issue over the summer. But having been pictured making a return to team training this week, he looked set to be back on the pitch relatively soon.

Unfortunately though, Jurgen Klopp has reported in his press conference today that the 32-year-old has suffered another issue, and will now miss a couple more weeks.

“Thiago had a little setback,” said the manager. “Started training with the team, had a little setback so we had to slow down there a little bit. It’s not cool for him, not cool for us but that’s how it is.

“He’ll use the international break for that, I’m pretty sure that should be enough for him to get up to speed.”

There was further disappointment for Liverpool fans, as Klopp also confirmed that Ibrahima Konate will not be back in time to face Aston Villa on Sunday

In better news, Klopp did confirm that Curtis Jones is back in training, and seemingly available for this weekend’s game.

But Thiago is going to have to wait a little longer before making his own return.

With Ryan Gravenberch set to sign and Liverpool’s midfield now stocked, Thiago’s injury is not as much of an issue. It would still be great to have the Spaniard around though. When fit, the £20m man is still the Reds most gifted midfielder.
