Nottingham, UK. 14th August 2022; The City Ground, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England; Premier League football, Nottingham Forest versus West Ham : Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper and West Ham United manager David Moyes

West Ham United manager David Moyes got it absolutely spot on by selling 26-year-old to Nottingham Forest for £200k two years ago.

West Ham boss David Moyes  agreed to sell 26-year-old striker tomorrow Xande Silva to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2021 for around £200,000 (Jacob Steinberg).

At the time, Moyes received heavy criticism from some sections of the Hammers fanbase for letting someone with ‘apparently’ huge potential leave to join another English club.

However, since he swapped the London Stadium for the City Ground, Silva has really struggled.

And his journey over the past two years has proven Moyes 100% spot on yet again…

West Ham boss David Moyes absolutely nailed it by selling 26-year-old to Nottingham Forest

During his stint with Forest, Silva failed to score a single goal in 10 games (Transfermarkt). He then left the City Ground to join French side Dijon in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer.

With Dijon – a French second division side – Silva bagged just six goals in 32 outings and he has since left to join MLS side Atlanta United on loan, where he has only one goal in four games to his name (Transfermarkt).

Xande Silva clearly doesn’t have what it takes to make it at the very highest level of English football, or in any other country for that matter.

Selling him to Nottingham Forest for just £200k back in the summer of 2021 may have looked like a questionable decision from Moyes at the time.

However, it’s £200k more than West Ham would have got, had David Moyes allowed the striker to run his contract down at the London Stadium, or even worse, offered him a new deal.

Well done Moyes – great work indeed.
