Daniel Levy saves Tottenham £10m as transfer confirmed

A Turkish report has claimed Tottenham Hotspur will pay less than ten percent of Tanguy Ndombele’s mouthwatering wages

Tottenham Hotspur will only pay a fraction of Tanguy Ndombele’s staggering £200k-a-week wages, according to reports.

The Frenchman has been one of Spurs’ highest earners since arriving from Lyon for a club-record fee in 2019. Despite initial promising signs, Ndombele’s form soon nosedived and successive Tottenham managers shipped him out on loan.

Jose Mourinho, in particular, endured a frosty relationship with the midfielder, who last played for Spurs in January 2022. Ndombele soon fell down the pecking order and it quickly became clear that his future lay away from North London.

It was announced on Monday that the 26-year-old has joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan. Another club-record arrival, Davinson Sanchez, also followed suit to the Turkish giants on a permanent deal.

With two years remaining on his big-money contract and no hope of returning to the fold under Ange Postecoglou, Ndombele’s pay packet has proven a burden for Daniel Levy and Co. But a report in the Turkish outlet Fotospor has claimed Galatasaray will foot the bill for most of the Frenchman’s wages.

Shifting as much of the financial responsibility elsewhere was viewed as a deal-breaker for Levy and Spurs will reportedly pay just €1million of his €12million per year wages, which means a saving in sterling of around £10m. Alongside Harry Kane’s departure, that means Tottenham have shaved just shy of £380k-a-week off their wage bill in recent weeks.
