Late-night maneuver by Tottenham to sabotage Everton’s acquisition of Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma
Under Everton’s noses, Tottenham Hotspur has launched a last-minute attempt to sign the Villarreal forward on loan.

According to football.london, Tottenham anticipates signing Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma on a loan to improve Antonio Conte’s attacking options.

football.london,

The 25-year-old, who has six goals in 17 games for Villarreal this season, was about to sign a contract with Everton when Spurs rushed in and are now in the process of signing the Netherlands international. According to football.london, Danjuma is currently traveling to the Tottenham Hotspur Way facility to complete his club medical.

Last season, Danjuma helped Villarreal reach the semifinals by scoring six goals in 11 Champions League games and ten goals in 23 La Liga games. The attacker from Lagos, who will be 26 on the day of the transfer deadline, can play either up front.

He has experience of English football, having scored 17 goals in 35 matches for Bournemouth as they reached the play-offs in the 2020/21 season. He joined from Club Brugge the previous season but was unable to score in his 14 Premier League appearances.

Danjuma will add another option to Conte’s attack where he will battle with Son Heung-min and Richarlison for a spot on the left as well as providing another back-up for joint club record goalscorer Harry Kane.

Spurs are also trying to negotiate a deal for Sporting right wing-back Pedro Porro. The 23-year-old is understood to be keen on a move to the north London club. While there is a feeling the transfer could yet go either way this week, there has been some progress made with a belief that the Portuguese club have begun to shift away from their initial insistence on the all up front £39.5m release clause needing to be met.
