Back-to-back clean sheets is a phrase seldom seen when discussing Leeds United’s form in general recently, but that is the current state of play for Daniel Farke.

A draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday proved not to be the most difficult for Leeds to earn a shutout, but their trip to the New Den was a real test.

Huge clean sheet and 3-0 win

The early onslaught from the Lions was a major challenge for Leeds to overcome against Gary Rowett’s side, facing a corner inside the first half-minute of the game.

It showed exactly what Leeds were in for in this game, especially in the opening exchanges as the home side looked to lay it on thick with Illan Meslier and his back four with long balls and crosses into the box.

After an early burst of energy from the home side, the game found more of an even rhythm when Joel Piroe finished off a lethal counter-attack to see Leeds take the lead.

From there, it was a case of Leeds seeing off more of the same from Millwall with balls from out wide and long balls over the top.

Adam Pope comments on centre-back

Joe Rodon’s performance in particular earned him a lot of plaudits as he dominated in the air and looked as elegant as ever in possession.

BBC’s Adam Pope commented on his performance when speaking on the Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet podcast:

“Joe Rodon was my man of the match, which is mad when you win 3-0 and pick a defender.

“He set the tone during a difficult 10 minutes, where they had to weather a lot of set-pieces.”

Rodon looks to be an astute addition to the squad right now after his start at centre-back, partnering Pascal Struijk really well.

The two complement each other nicely at the heart of defence and their quality in possession is vital for a team looking to dominate the ball.

It’s also very refreshing to see us command the box in the air too, having spent so long being one of the weakest sides around when crosses come into the box.
