Southampton: 10 surprising stats from Saints' 2017/18 season

James Bree, a right-back, has been officially signed by Southampton from Luton Town.
The 25-year-old is the third player Nathan Jones has brought in during the January transfer window after agreeing to a three-and-a-half year deal with the south coast club.

Making my Premier League debut, obviously for a team as big as Southampton, is something I’ve envisioned doing since I was a young child. It is a dream that you dare to have.

On Wednesday, The Athletic reported that Southampton was getting close to signing Bree.

In the summer, Bree’s contract expired, which prompted Southampton to act.

He was a subordinate of Jones, the current Southampton manager, at Luton, and Jones was thrilled to be able to bring him to St. Mary’s.

Jones continued, “James is obviously someone I know well from our time together at Luton, and he has the traits both in terms of his character and on the field to help us here.

The arrival of James to the squad really helps us to address that even though we have incredibly talented players in the full-back positions; we have been lacking in numbers. He is also at ease playing at center back, so his versatility gives us even another strong option in several areas.
