Liverpool report £46m pre-tax loss - Punch Newspapers

Hello and welcome to our dedicated Liverpool live blog for Monday, August 14.

The Premier League season is finally underway as the Reds got their campaign off to a mediocre start with a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. In the grand scheme of things, it’s a positive point for Liverpool as they look to bolster their squad before their first home match against AFC Bournemouth.

Onto the latest transfer speculation, Chelsea are said to be on the brink of sealing a deal with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Moises Caicedo.

As we know, Liverpool agreed a fee with the Ecuadorian midfielder but the Londoners re-emerged in the race to acquire his signature and, if reports are to be believed, looks destined to make the move.

Romeo Lavia is a player who also remains firmly linked with Liverpool. Reports out of Belgium and England claim that the Reds are looking to match Chelsea’s £55m bid for the Southampton man.

Fabinho receives gift after Al Ittihad debut

They said the riches of Saudi Arabia were too grand to turn down, well this is taking it to another level…

Earlier Fabinho played 90 minutes on his first start for Al Ittihad, who won their season opener 3-0. After the match the former Red was approached by a journalist who gifted him a Rolex for his star performance. Let’s hope it wasn’t damaged when he dropped it.
