Yves Bissouma could get immediate Tottenham ban after red card suspension due to bizarre technicality | talkSPORT

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma was sent off just before half-time in Saturday’s Premier League game at Luton Town.

Bissouma was initially booked in the 39th minute after committing Tottenham’s first foul of the game by bringing down Chiedozie Ogbene in the center of the pitch.

He was then shown a second yellow card in first-half added time for diving.

Bissouma threw himself to the ground in an attempt to win a free-kick 20 yards from goal but referee John Brooks was not fooled.

The score was 0-0 when Bissouma left the field.

Spurs then defied their numerical disadvantage in the second half to win 1-0.

Micky van de Ven scored the winner – his first goal for Tottenham – following James Maddison’s fifth assist of the season.

Bissouma first yellow card of Saturday’s game was his fifth of the season, meaning he had already secured a one-game suspension before he was sent off.

His red card means he will be now banned for Tottenham’s next game – at home against Fulham – and will effectively still be on four yellow cards once he returns from that suspension.

Therefore, Bissouma will be banned for one game again after his next yellow card.
