Journalist names three Leeds United players ruled out as early team news emerges v Norwich

Leeds United are expected to be missing at least three players for the game against Norwich City on Saturday (21 October), according to Ben McKenna.

Writing on the Yorkshire Evening Post website on Sunday (15 October), the journalist said the Whites are likely to be without Djed Spence, Willy Gnonto and Stuart Dallas for the trip to Carrow Road.

He added that Jamie Shackleton could be back in contention after missing the victory over Bristol City, while Junior Firpo may return to training this week ahead of the match against the Canaries.

There aren’t too many surprises really in the latest team news ahead of the trip to Norfolk as each of the three injured players have already been out for a considerable amount of time.

Dallas is continuing his recovery from a leg fracture suffered in April 2022, while Spence picked up a knee injury in training and Gnonto hurt his ankle against Hull City.

Shackleton could be pushing for a return, though, after Daniel Farke revealed that he was hopeful that he would have recovered from his shoulder injury on the other side of the international break.

The fixture may come a little too soon for Firpo even if he does return to training this week after he hasn’t played a single minute of football so far this season.

It’s likely the Whites boss will approach the injuries with a degree of caution due to him now having reasonable depth in his ranks following some solid late summer recruitment at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, a big-money Chelsea signing seemed to slam a Whites star after what he did on international duty.
