Breaking News:5 star Best wide receivers decommit and Flip to Louisville Cardinals football over Clemson tigers and…

The Washington Huskies end the season with a heartbreaking 35-34 loss to the Louisville Cardinals in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl. In what ended up being quite the entertaining game filled with lots of scoring, Demond Williams Jr. connected with Giles Jackson for 4 TDs as the Dawgs almost came back from a 14 point 4th Quarter deficit but fell just short after missing on a 2-point conversion to win. In theme with the bowl game, the true freshman must have had Frosted Flakes for breakfast that morning because he showed how ‘grrrreat’ and special he is. The future is bright, Husky Nation.

From both of us: Thank you all for sticking with us and Film Study for another season.

Until next year – Go Dawgs!

To the film.

1st Quarter – 8:18 – 1st & 10

First things first, apologies for the delayed post. Holiday travel and my day job (yes, I do still work a day job) conspired to push Film Study back further than I wanted.

With that out of the way, we wanted to focus this edition of Film Study on Williams’s breakout performance, what worked, what needs improvement, and what the offense might look like next season. As Awgs noted in the intro, Williams had an outstanding bowl performance. Frankly, it was one of the best non-Penix performances from a UW QB in quite some time. I actually looked up UW’s Sun Bowl media guide to contextualize his performance against UW’s greats, and Williams’ 422 yards of total offense (374 passing & 48 rushing) were just 8 yards shy of Cody Pickett’s 430 yard game against Idaho in ‘02, which was good for #10 all-time for UW.

While Williams’ athleticism and playmaking on the ground have been what stood out in his appearances throughout this season, his passing performances against a solid Louisville defense is what has gotten many Husky fans (ourselves included) excited about the future. His ability to push the ball down the field throughout the game is what kept us in the game and is what could serve as a great equalizer next season as the program continues to evolve in Fisch’s vision.

Here on this TD play, Giles Jackson’s first of four on the day, Williams was able to show off his arm talent.
