When Kalen DeBoer was hired to coach Alabama Football, two storylines emerged quickly. One was centered on the recognition any coach with a 104-12 record deserves. The other storyline was despite DeBoer’s record, the fortunes of Alabama Football would plummet in the post-Nick Saban Era.
A few doubters about DeBoer’s success at Alabama remain locked in on the failure theme. They are being drowned out by the reality that Kalen DeBoer has handled the Alabama transition masterfully. After all, Alabama is still Alabama, even without Nick Saban as the head coach.
There is irrefutable evidence of what a good offensive coach DeBoer is. After serving as the Southern Illinois Offensive Coordinator and WR coach in 2010-2013, DeBoer became the OC/QB coach at Eastern Michigan in 2014.
