Reed and Jeff Sheppard face off in Spikeball at Rupp Arena
Some people go for walks around the neighborhood or hit the gym, others pour their favorite cup of coffee while scrambling up some eggs to get their mornings off on the right foot. Whatever you gotta do to set the tone for the rest of the day.
How does Reed Sheppard, the No. 3 draft pick and favorite for NBA Rookie of the Year, get his Friday started? By playing Spikeball with his dad at centercourt of Rupp Arena.
In a good old fashioned shirts versus skins battle featuring Jeff Sheppard and Midwest Basketball Club coach Brook Cupps taking on Reed and Indiana basketball sophomore Gabe Cupps, the foursome got after it way, way, way too early ahead of the Reed Sheppard FANtasy Experience in Lexington.

They even captured the attention of Spikeball CEO Chris Ruder, who shared the video from Rupp Arena on his Twitter account.
“Let’s go, Kentucky (and Houston Rockets) basketball!” he wrote
How did you get your Friday started? I bet it wasn’t like the Sheppards.
Mark Pope threw L’s down in Hazard during team bonding retreat
Mark Pope has yet to coach a single game at Kentucky, but he knows exactly what the school’s rivalry against Louisville means.
Pope brought his entire 2024-25 roster and staff down to Hazard, KY on Friday for a Community Cookout at Perry County Park. The trip also included community service work as the players and coaches all put on their hard hats and went to work on some construction. 1958 national champion Johnny Cox was there, too. Pope used this opportunity as a team bonding retreat ahead of the fall semester at UK, which begins on Monday.
