Tyler Eifert, former Bengals return back to Cincinnati Bengals home with full commitment…

Bishop Dwenger, Notre Dame and NFL football player, has been selected to receive a Red Coat – the biggest honor given by the local Mad Anthonys charitable organization.

“We are thrilled to recognize Tyler as a Red Coat recipient this year,” Mad Anthonys Board President Sherri Miller said in a news release. “In both his athletic endeavors and his community support, he has represented Fort Wayne with pride and excellence. He is fully deserving of his induction into the family of Red Coat recipients.”

Eifert will be one of three recipients at the Red Coat Gala, which will be held May 18 at the Clyde Theater. In January, the Mad Anthonys named Jim Marcuccilli and Tom Marcuccilli of Fort Wayne-based STAR Financial Group, Inc., as Red Coat winners, too.

Eifert, 33, played at Notre Dame from 2009 to 2012. He was a First Team All-American as a junior, when he had 63 receptions for 803 yards – Notre Dame records for a tight end – along with five touchdowns. As a senior, he won the Mackey Award as the best tight end in college football and was a Second Team All-American.

He was a first-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, 21st overall, in 2013 and played seven seasons with the Bengals before finishing his career in 2020 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 74 NFL games, Eifert totaled 221 catches for 2,501 yards and 26 touchdowns. He was a Pro Bowler in 2015, when he had 52 catches for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns.

“Being named a Red Coat recipient is an incredible honor,” Eifert said in a news release. “Growing up in Fort Wayne, I knew what a big deal the Mad Anthonys Foundation and the Red Coat were. I am incredibly grateful to the Mad Anthonys for this recognition and humbled at the chance to join this year’s other honorees.”

The Mad Anthonys were founded in 1957 and are composed of business leaders and professionals from northeast Indiana. The Mad Anthonys Pro-Am golf events, along with the Red Coat Gala, have raised millions of dollars for charitable organizations in Fort Wayne. This year’s Pro-Am will be Oct. 10 at Pine Valley Country Club.
