sad news; Carson Beck announce his departure from Georgia on……
Ahead of the first full weekend of games for the 2024 college football season, a lot of attention is being paid to the quarterbacks who are vying for position in the 2025 NFL draft
Per ESPN’s draft guru Mel Kiper Jr., Carson Beck of Georgia “has the best chance to be the No. 1 pick” next spring.
Coming off the 2024 draft that saw a record-tying six quarterbacks go in the first round—all of them in the top 12 picks—there isn’t as much enthusiasm right now for next year’s class.
In a ranking of the top 25 prospects in 2025 released on Wednesday, ESPN’s Field Yates had Beck as the top quarterback and No. 5 overall player. Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders (No. 7 overall) and Texas’ Quinn Ewers (No. 19) were the only other quarterbacks on the list.
The last time a quarterback wasn’t selected with the top overall pick was 2022 when Travon Walker went to the Jacksonville Jaguars. That was also one of the worst quarterback classes in recent memory, with Kenny Pickett being the first one off the board at No. 20.
Several teams expected to be bad in 2024 could be in the market for a quarterback. The New England Patriots likely won’t target one after getting Drake Maye this year, but the Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants all could look for an upgrade.
The Carolina Panthers are a potential wild card depending on how Bryce Young looks this season.
