The season is nearly done at Triple-A Syracuse, but that doesn’t mean these aren’t important at-bats, chances and moments for some of the Mets’ top prospects.

And Friday night in Syracuse a pair of players the organization hopes takes big steps in the coming months – Jett Williams and Drew Gilbert – were the stars in a 12-5 win over the Charlotte Knights.
Williams, playing in just his fourth game since his late-season promotion, continued to show the higher level isn’t a concern for the diminutive shortstop.
On Friday, Williams went down on strikes in the first inning but bounced back to single in his next two trips to the plate – smacking the ball 104.9 mph off the bat and 103.8 mph – before walking twice to end the night 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
