Unbelievable,:9-1-1 mourns in tears As angela bassett lost her twin’s it happens during….
In this week’s issue, the Black Panther and 9-1-1 star, 65, reveals that a memorable family photo of her twins Slater Josiah and Bronwyn Golden, 18, first debuted in PEOPLE magazine when the children were infants, has a special place in her home.
“I love that picture, and it actually sits in my living room on the piano,” says Bassett, who shares her twins with husband Courtney B. Vance
What was her life like at the time of the 2006 portrait? “Just working, things coming together,” recalls Bassett.
“Career seems to be humming. [You] find the one, true, beautiful love in your life. And then after years of you having the career, now you want the family. [Always wanted] the family. And then that being a bit of a struggle,” she says.
Bassett and Vance dealt with seven years of fertility struggles before welcoming the twins via in vitro fertilization (IVF) and the help of a surrogate. “And then with a bit of science and a bit of faith, that came into being,” remembers Bassett. “So it was a perfect moment. These two, beautiful, healthy, young beings came into being and they were just cute as can be – and they still are.”
