5-star offensive line prospect has locked in an official visit with the Texas tech during the 2025 offseason…..
The 2024 season marked Carter’s first as a Red Raider after transferring to Texas Tech following two seasons at Memphis. Carter previously played two seasons at the junior college level at Northwest Mississippi Community College in 2020-21 prior to signing with Memphis.
Carter started in 12 of 13 games this past season at right guard, helping lead the Red Raiders to an 8-5 record and an appearance in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. He finished the season with an 87.5 grade as a pass blocker by Pro Football Focus, which led the team and currently ranks tied for ninth among offensive guards nationally. The website credited Carter with only two sacks surrendered in 483 opportunities this season as he ranks tied for 24th nationally among all offensive linemen.
Carter has allowed only three sacks in his three seasons at the FBS level as PFF has ranked him among the nation’s top pass blockers annually. He previously received an 82.6 overall grade for the 2023 season at Memphis, which ranked seventh in the FBS among offensive guards and second in the American Athletic Conference.
Texas Tech is slated to return three offensive linemen with significant starting experience next season as Carter joins center Sheridan Wilson and left guard Vinny Sciury. Wilson started all 13 games for the Red Raiders as a sophomore this season, while Sciury was forced to redshirt after suffering a season-ending injury at Washington State. He arrived at Texas Tech with similar experience as Carter, having started in 33-consecutive games previously at Toledo.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, three former Red Raiders in the NFL – Broderick Washinton Jr. (Ravens), Patrick Mahomes II (Chiefs) and Tyler Owens (Commanders) – have already punched their tickets to the postseason while Jordyn Brooks (Dolphins) and Erik Ezukanma (Dolphins) need a win and some help to extend their seasons. On the other hand, it will be the season finale for five others currently on active rosters.
