Speaking on the BILD podcast Phrasenmäher, Van der Vaart was asked which Dutch player Bayern should consider signing. His answer was De Jong, the 29-year-old Barcelona midfielder.

Van der Vaart believes Bayern should think ahead regarding Joshua Kimmich, who is now 31, and suggested that De Jong could eventually become an option for the club. Importantly, he also believes the two midfielders could play together rather than De Jong simply replacing Kimmich.
