Dabo Swinney continues to adapt to the evolving college football landscape, securing another key player through the transfer portal.

Former Purdue defensive end Alex Heldt announced his commitment to Clemson, marking the Tigers’ second impactful portal addition this week. Heldt, a towering 6-foot-6, 265-pound edge rusher, made his mark during the 2023 season, recording 56 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, five sacks, and 16 quarterback pressures across 12 games for the Boilermakers.

Ranked as the No. 1 edge rusher in the transfer portal by On3, Heldt was highly sought after, taking visits to LSU and Texas A&M before choosing Clemson. Originally a three-star recruit, he now brings two years of eligibility and a proven track record to the Tigers’ defense.

Michigan football has seen some players starting to enter the transfer portal in the past week. The newest member to the list is former three-star Edge rusher, Breeon Ishmail. The Cinicnnati (OH) product announced on Friday that he was entering the portal after spending two seasons in Ann Arbor.

Ismail was ranked as the 1110 overall prospect in the ’23 cycle, according to the Composite.
