Jalen Milroe been the subject of a string of recent interviews as part of a promotion for a sports nutrition company, and was asked by The Spun about whether Alabama faces any “added pressure” given its three-year drought of not winning a national title.

The message from the quarterback in response: the pressure should be on other teams.

“I think the challenge is for other teams to stop us,” he responded. “We have a starving group that’s in the locker room. That’s the thing that we have, that mentality to try and improve and get better as a whole. When you have individuals that are constantly trying to improve and build with their teammates, that’s when you can build a great team. That’s what we have. I don’t feel any added pressure at all.”

Alabama’s 2023 season ended with a Rose Bowl loss to Michigan in which Milroe finished 16-of-23 for 116 yards while taking six sacks and losing a fumble. It was the culmination of a redshirt sophomore season in which Milroe finished fifth among FBS quarterbacks in passing efficiency ranking and was picked second-team All-SEC by the Associated Press.

I’m still starving,” Milroe told The Spun. “I’m not satisfied with last year. I still have things I need to improve on to be the best player I can be and I acknowledge that. That’s something I’m excited about.”

Milroe was also voted a permanent team captain this season, and was one of the consistent voices in the locker room amid the transition from Nick Saban to Kalen DeBoer this winter.

We haven’t taken a step back,” Milroe said. “All we’ve done is take a step forward in every aspect of our game, and it’s evident to how we’re performing right now. I’m very pleased with how we’re doing as a team, because with some external factors that took place earlier in this offseason, you could definitely see that there could be some division, but leaders have stepped up throughout our team and pushed us in the right situation.”
