Breaking news:Mike Gundy announce his resignation and departure Oklahoma State Coach….
Do fans think Oklahoma State Coach Mike Gundy is out of line for telling his players to stop asking for more money after shutting down NIL negotiations for the Cowboys while their season is in session
The college football landscape is far different in 2024 than it was when Mike Gundy took over the Oklahoma State football program nearly two decades ago. But after an offseason full of off-the-field developments like the House v. NCAA settlement and discussions surrounding future revenue-sharing models, the prolific Cowboys coach is just one week away from being able to shut everything out and focus on the season at hand.
Gundy had a clear message for his roster in the latter stages of fall camp. That is, the time to bargain for NIL deals and roster spots is gone, and all attention must now shift to Week 1’s matchup with South Dakota State.
“The good news is the next five months, we can just play football,” Gundy said after Thursday’s practice, via GoPokes247. “There’s no negotiating now. The portal’s closed. All the negotiation’s history. Now we’re playing football. The business side of what we do now — we have to have those conversations with them. ‘Tell your agent to quit calling us and asking for more money. It’s non-negotiable now. It’ll start again in December.’
