Malzahn called it a “fall-camp win,” harkening back to the message that he delivered consistently through August that this particular preseason was the toughest in his four years as Knights coach.
“We paid our dues. Our guys were strained, physically and mentally,” Malzahn said. “Our guys didn’t flinch. The sideline demeanor, guys were picking each other up. Any time you have (more than 40) new players, you don’t know what’s going to happen. But hats off to our players.”
