Breaking News: Kenny Dillingham Reaffirms Commitment to Arizona State Amid Departure Rumors..

In a decisive move to quell swirling rumors, Arizona State University (ASU) head football coach Kenny Dillingham has publicly reaffirmed his dedication to the Sun Devils, stating unequivocally, “I am not leaving. Money is not everything.”

A Remarkable Turnaround

Dillingham, a Phoenix native and ASU alumnus, took the helm of the Sun Devils in 2023. In his inaugural season, the team struggled, finishing with a 3–9 record. However, the 2024 season marked a historic turnaround. Under Dillingham’s leadership, ASU achieved an 11–3 record, clinched the Big 12 Championship with a decisive 45–19 victory over Iowa State, and secured a spot in the College Football Playoff (CFP) for the first time in program history.

The Sun Devils’ success was fueled by standout performances from players like running back Cam Skattebo, who rushed for 1,568 yards and 19 touchdowns, and quarterback Sam Leavitt, who threw for 2,663 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Recognition and Rewards

Dillingham’s exceptional coaching did not go unnoticed. He was named the Chuck Neinas Big 12 Coach of the Year, and ASU extended his contract by five years, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in the conference. The new deal includes provisions for further extensions and increased support for the football program, including additional scholarships and staff investments.

Addressing the Rumors

Despite the accolades and contractual commitments, rumors surfaced suggesting Dillingham might depart for opportunities in the SEC or Big Ten. Addressing these speculations head-on, Dillingham emphasized his deep ties to ASU and the Tempe community. “This isn’t just a job for me—it’s personal,” he stated. “I grew up here. I understand what Sun Devil pride implies and what it may become. Walking away from it would mean leaving my roots.”

Looking Ahead

With Dillingham’s commitment reaffirmed, ASU looks forward to building on the momentum of the 2024 season. The program aims to continue its upward trajectory, focusing on recruiting, player development, and maintaining a competitive edge in the Big 12.

In an era where coaching changes are commonplace, Dillingham’s steadfast dedication to his alma mater stands out, offering stability and a clear vision for the future of ASU football.
