defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy announced his commitment to LSU football on Thursday at halftime during the Under Armour All-America Game.

McCoy, a four-star recruit, is ranked as the No. 6 player in Mississippi, the No. 12 defensive lineman, and the No. 103 overall recruit in the Class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite.

“Man, it’s just been family since I was little,” McCoy said on his commitment during the broadcast. “They (LSU) just been showing me (love) since they offered me. It’s been good ever since. I just want to thank the LSU community, the fans, the coaches. Let’s go, Tigers.”

The 6-foot-7, 245-pound junior had a top three list on Dec. 28 of LSU, Tennessee and USC but added Alabama before his announcement on Thursday. He also held offers from Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

McCoy helped Tupelo to a 14-0 record this past season while winning the MHSAA Class 7A state title with a 28-16 win over Brandon, recording 30 tackles, 20 solos, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks through nine games.

LSU ended its year 9-4 following a 44-31 win over Baylor in the Texas Bowl.

Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers have retooled the roster in Baton Rouge with 14 new additions via the NCAA Transfer Portal over the last month.

With newcomers set to join the program, Kelly and Co. have also seen double-digit departures through the free agent market.

On Friday, LSU saw the 18th member of the 2024 roster enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after defensive lineman Kimo Makane’ole revealed his intentions.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pounder signed with the LSU Tigers in the 2021 class as an offensive lineman before transitioning to the defensive line during spring of 2024

Makane’ole, a Florida native, struggled to earn meaningful snaps in the purple and gold during his tenure with the program.
