Graham Mertz is an American college football quarterback who currently plays for the Florida Gators. Born on December 6, 2000, in Overland Park, Kansas, Mertz has had a remarkable college football career.¹

Mertz’s high school football career was impressive, leading Blue Valley North High School to a Class 6A state championship as a junior and a state runner-up finish as a senior. He was a finalist for the Elite 11 quarterback competition in 2018 and was named Gatorade Kansas Football Player of the Year.

At the University of Wisconsin, Mertz played for the Badgers from 2019 to 2022 before transferring to Florida in 2023. During his time at Wisconsin, he served as the starting quarterback and led the team to several victories, including a win over Illinois in 2020, where he set a school record with 20 completions on 21 attempts.

In 2023, Mertz started 11 games for the Florida Gators, finishing with career-highs in completions, passing yards, touchdown passes, and completion percentage. He set program records for consecutive passes without an interception and consecutive passes completed.²

Mertz’s 2024 season was cut short due to a season-ending ACL tear suffered during a game against Tennessee. Despite the injury, he finished the season with impressive stats, including 791 passing yards, six touchdown passes, and a rushing score.

Throughout his college career, Mertz has received several honors, including being named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, SEC Player of the Week, and Manning Award Star of the Week.
