Cornerback Jalen Ramsey is still committed to USC, but both Florida and Florida State are still in the running for the 5-star recruit.
As USC knows all too well, nothing is official until national signing day (Feb. 6), so there’s still plenty of time for Ramsey’s recruitment to shake up. The question is, will it?
Blair Angulo of ESPN.com reports that the two Florida powerhouses are still strongly recruiting Ramsey, despite his commitment to USC:
There’s no doubting the fact that both Florida and Florida State would have a lot to offer Ramsey. Head coach Will Muschamp and the Gators are putting together an extremely impressive defensive recruiting class (ranked No. 1 overall by Rivals.com), and Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles are building a contending program over in Tallahassee.
Ramsey is from Tennessee, so both schools give him the chance to stay closer to home and in SEC/ACC country. Furthermore, as Angulo explained, there’s the assistant coaching situation to consider—Florida State is looking very strong now that Jeremy Pruitt is the defensive coordinator.
Angulo referred to coach Marvin Sanders’ status as unknown. However, according to Scott Schrader of FightOn247 (via Twitter), USC has fired their defensive backs coach:
