Breaking news:.Joey McGuire announce his resignation and departure leaving the Texas tech for…..
“I was shocked at how we played,” head coach Joey McGuire said of his defense on Monday morning. “We’ve got guys looking in the backfield and running out routes. We’ve got miscommunication. We’ve got a dead set to where the tight end is dead, and they have communicated that he is dead, and neither one of the two DBs took the over route to Nehemiah Martinez on a huge play…they had a good game plan, and we played like dog crap.”
The challenge won’t be any easier this weekend against a very solid Washington State team, who posted over 400 yards through the air and ran the ball for over 200 yards in a dominant 70-30 win over Portland State on Saturday.
Yeah, it’s going to be tough,” McGuire said about containing the Cougars’ offense. “We’ve got to cover down on some receivers to where we don’t give some clear pictures and easy access throws. And, you know, we’ve got to get in the windows with our linebackers to even have a chance to get home against some of the stuff that they’re doing.”

The Red Raiders will have to contain the lead duo of receivers for the Cougars, Kris Hutson and Kyle Williams, who combined for 242 yards and three touchdowns on just eight receptions in the win on Saturday. McGuire is hopeful that the team will get their lead corner back for the matchup, and believes that he will make a major impact on the game.
