Let’s talk about Calbert Cheaney, one of the greatest players in Indiana Hoosiers history. Cheaney played for the Hoosiers from 1989 to 1993 and had an incredible career, earning him a spot among the all-time greats.¹

 

During his time at Indiana, Cheaney was a three-time All-American and led the team to a 105-27 record and four NCAA Tournament appearances. He’s the Big Ten’s all-time leading scorer with 2,613 points, which is a testament to his exceptional skills on the court.

 

Cheaney’s impressive collegiate career didn’t go unnoticed, as he was named the National Player of the Year in 1993, winning both the Wooden and Naismith awards. He was also a unanimous All-American and Big Ten Player of the Year.

 

After his successful college career, Cheaney went on to play in the NBA for 13 seasons, suiting up for five different teams. Today, he’s an assistant coach for the Erie BayHawks of the NBA G League.
