Chip Kelly, Raiders pick Shedeur Sanders in CBS Sports mock NFL draft
Newly hired Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly is already making his mark in Las Vegas. Adding both a former player and coach to the Raiders’ staff, the ex-UCLA Bruins head coach is only a few pieces away from running a high-powered offense. The most important piece? The quarterback. With the sixth pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports has the Raiders selecting Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Wilson writes, “The Raiders’ dreams continue to come true. Tom Brady’s there. They have Pete Carroll, who feels like the right energy they need in that building to turn things around. The only thing left is they need a quarterback… I think [Sanders] throws a pretty good deep ball.”
Pairing Sanders and Kelly could be a match made in heaven. Sanders has the physical tools to be a productive NFL quarterback if given the pieces around him.
With Kelly at the helm of what is expected to be a varied offense, Las Vegas has ample opportunity to build around their young quarterback and make the most of his inexpensive rookie deal through the draft and free agency.
The question remains whether Sanders will be on the board when the Raiders select and whether ownership is willing to make a splash in free agency this March for Kelly and his offense.
