Through three weeks of the college football season, Big Ten ground attacks have been as dominant as ever. The national leader is now Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson, who rose to the top spot after another 170+ yard performance.

Last year, at this time, the conference leader only had 357 rushing yards. At the end of week three in 2024, two players have surpassed that tally already, and Johnson is likely to eclipse 500 yards in just a couple of carries during his next game.

Johnson and Rutgers’ Kyle Monangai are looking like the top two backs in the conference and are once again the top two backs in terms of yardage heading into Week 4. The Iowa star also leads the conference in rushing touchdowns with six and has scored two in each game this year.

Despite having a bye this week, Penn State still has Nick Singleton in the top 10, and he will look to add to that tally next week against a Kent State defense that just gave up 71 points to Tennessee. Singleton is the conference leader in yards per carry among ball carriers with 25 or more rushes.
