Florida Gators set to have trio of prospects in Gainesville this weekend from powerhouse in-state program

Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier lifts the 2024 Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl trophy in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL on Friday, December 20, 2024 after defeating Tulane 33-8.

The recruiting doesn’t stop for the Florida Gators. They got their veteran backup quarterback earlier in the week in Louisville transfer Harrison Bailey and have been active in the transfer portal to help quarterback DJ Lagway.

Now that the season is over, recruiting in the portal, along with high school recruiting is still going strong and head coach Billy Napier isn’t stopping his pursuit of finding the next great Florida Gator.

Florida set to have 3 IMG Academy prospects in Gainesville

The Gators have been criticized over the course of the last decade for not putting enough attention on the powerhouse of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. They only have four players committed since 2013 with three of them coming in Napier’s tenure.

2024: Four-star WR Tank Hawkins

2023: Three-star OT Knijeah Harris

2022: Four-star S Kamari Wilson

2020: Four-star WR Kamar Wilcoxson

On their Twitter/X accounts on Wednesday, three IMG Academy prospects announced they would be on campus.

Florida has officially extended offers to both Thigpen and Jones per 247 Sports. The trenches are a huge part of what the Gators need to continue building up, as the best teams usually have great trench play.

Continuing to build up a relationship with the powerhouse that is IMG Academy is a great idea for the Gators and will continue to build up the program. Napier’s Gators don’t have any prospects committed past 2026 and have just three commits in the 2026 class.
