Earlier this week, we shared five reasons why Auburn will struggle on the road with the possibility of loading the plane with a loss. Today, we will take a more optimistic approach to Saturday’s game by sharing five reasons why Auburn will pull off the upset in Columbia.

Here are five keys to success for the Auburn Tigers on Saturday as they face Missouri in a crucial SEC game.Auburn’s offense produces 10 more yards per game than Missouri’s, with its passing game earning most of the yards. Missouri will also possess a serious passing threat but expect KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Malcolm Simmons to be reliable targets for Payton Thorne on Saturday.

Missouri’s run game features three backs that have rushed for over 100 yards this season. The likes of Nate Noel, Marcus Carroll, and Brady Cook will go against Auburn’s solid run defense, which is arguably its strongest quality with three games graded out at 80 or higher according to Pro Football Focus. Jalen McLeod, Keldric Faulk, Jayson Jones, and Philip Blidi will be the key players to watch this week as they prepare to slow down the Missouri rushing attack.

Auburn’s secondary will have a tall task on Saturday by covering wide receivers Luther Burden and Theo Wease Jr. However, their production falls quite a bit outside of those two. Outside of Burden, who grades out at 81.6 in receiving by Pro Football Focus, 13 receivers grade below 74 in the category, averaging 58.7. Missouri receivers have also caught just 70.1% of their targeted passes. The secondary is not Auburn’s strength on defense, but a great opportunity for them to showcase improvement awaits them on Saturday.
