Former Michigan players make admission about their decision to transfer to Ohio State together……

The Florida State Seminoles’ 2025 roster will have a bit of an orange tint to it after the program landed several former Tennessee Vols players via the NCAA transfer portal.

Wide receiver Squirrel White, defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins, and linebacker Elijah Herring are former Vols who will be suiting up for the Seminoles in the fall.

(Herring left Tennessee after the 2023 season and went on to play for Memphis in 2024. White and Jenkins, meanwhile, both left Tennessee after the 2024 season.)

White and Herring spoke to reporters this past week and each acknowledged that the opportunity to play together again factored into their decision to transfer to Florida State.

“We definitely did (communicate with each other during the transfer process),” said White. “We all had a visit lined up [for] January 2. So we all came on the visit and hung out and everything. I definitely wanted to reunite with them. I saw Jayson commit first and I was like okay, let’s go, alright, he committed to Florida State. I seen Elijah Herring commit and I was like oh, dang. So it’s only right that I commit, too. So I was like yeah, let’s get this thing rolling.”

“We talked about that (transferring to same school), we’ve been together almost every day since we got here,” added Herring. “Just talking about our dreams and what we want to do at Florida State. It’s most definitely made everything easier and made the process way more fun.”

Herring also told reporters that the “sky is the limit” for Jenkins.

“We seen that (potential) really the first day Jayson stepped on campus (at Tennessee),” said Herring. “He was really a raw uncut player, but he’s a Jersey guy, so I imagine he was bigger than everybody out there. We watched his film and we were like ‘bro you could be good, you just gotta tap into some stuff and just listen and develop’. And day by day, Jayson got better and better and just kept working on his craft. We know the sky is the limit for Jayson.”

White and Herring both left Tennessee because they were likely going to see a decrease in playing time.

Jenkins, however, probably would’ve had a significant role in Tennessee’s defense in 2025. But because of the way the Vols rotate defensive linemen, he may not have played as many snaps as he was hoping.
