Leeds United have completed the signing of exciting 21-year-old forward Jean-Mattéo Bahoya on a season-long loan from Eintracht Frankfurt, with an option to make the transfer permanent.
The deal, confirmed on deadline day, marks the club’s seventh addition of the summer transfer window and their second signing of the final day. Bahoya becomes the latest new face at Elland Road as the Whites look to strengthen their attacking options for the Premier League campaign.
Deal Details
Bahoya joins on loan for the 2026/27 season. According to reports, Leeds will pay a loan fee in the region of £1.7m (€2m). The agreement includes an option — reported by some sources as an obligation under certain conditions — to buy the player permanently for around £19.7m, plus up to £4.3m in potential add-ons. The total package has been widely valued at approximately £25–26m (€30m).
The structure gives Leeds flexibility while securing a high-upside young talent who had also attracted interest from other clubs, including Hull City earlier in the window.
Who is Jean-Mattéo Bahoya?
The French under-21 international is a versatile, right-footed attacker who can operate anywhere across the front line and even in a more creative midfield role. Primarily a left-sided forward or winger, he is renowned for his blistering pace.
In the 2024/25 season, Bahoya set the record for the fastest sprint speed ever recorded in Bundesliga history at 37.16 km/h — just 0.42 km/h slower than the average pace of Usain Bolt’s 2009 World Record 100m run.
Last campaign he made 37 appearances for Frankfurt, including eight in the Champions League. He began his career at Angers in France before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2024 at the age of 18 for a fee of around €8m. He has earned five caps for France’s Under-21s, scoring twice.
Leeds United’s official statement read:
“We are delighted to announce the signing of exciting forward Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, who joins on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt with the option to become a permanent transfer.”
The club added that he becomes their final summer signing and expressed a warm welcome to West Yorkshire.

Bahoya’s arrival helped facilitate the departure of Wilfried Gnonto, who joined Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy. The Frenchman arrives as a direct response to Leeds’ desire for more pace and depth in wide attacking areas.
