LSU football picks up commitment from four-star Mississippi defensive lineman recruit
LSU football landed a verbal commitment Thursday from a defensive lineman recruit in the 2026 freshman class.
JaReylan McCoy — a four-star edge rusher slotted just outside the top 100 of 247Sports’ composite rankings — announced his decision at the Under Armour All-American game. The Mississippi native chose LSU’s offer over others from Tennessee and Southern Cal.
A 6-foot-7, 250-pound defensive lineman, McCoy is now the sixth recruit and the second defensive lineman committed to LSU’s 2026 freshman class.
The highest rated player of the bunch, according to 247Sports composite rankings, is Aiden Hall, a top-50 safety from New Orleans. His Edna Karr teammate, four-star defensive tackle Richard Anderson, is the other defensive lineman pledged to LSU’s 2026 class.
LSU’s 2025 freshman class, which signed in December, is the eight-best group in the country, per 247Sports composite rankings.
