Madina Okot’s next steps depend on two main possibilities:

Extra Year of NCAA Eligibility:

 

 

South Carolina Women’s Basketball coach Dawn Staley and the university are trying to get Okot an extra year of eligibility due to her having only played two seasons in the United States after visa issues delayed her arrival. If granted, she would return to South Carolina for the 2026-2027 season.

 

 

WNBA Draft: If her appeal for an extra year is denied,

 

 

 

 

Okot is expected to enter the WNBA Draft. Coach Staley believes that with another year of college experience, Okot could be a “definite” top-five WNBA pick. As for now Okot is focused on helping South Carolina compete for a national championship.
