Minnesota Vikings Forge $140K Partnership with Six NCAA Institutions to Launch Women’s Flag Football League

In a significant move to promote women’s sports, the Minnesota Vikings, in collaboration with the NFL, have partnered with six NCAA institutions to establish a collegiate women’s flag football league. The participating schools include Augustana University, Concordia College Moorhead, Gustavus Adolphus College, Bethel University, the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The initiative is backed by a combined contribution of $140,000 from the Vikings and the NFL to support the league and its participating schools.

The inaugural season features jamborees scheduled for April at the University of Northwestern and the University of Wisconsin-Stout, culminating in a championship tournament at TCO Stadium in Eagan on April 26.

Brett Taber, Vikings Vice President of Social Impact, emphasized the significance of this development, stating, “This is a significant moment for the continued growth of girls’ and women’s flag football.”

This partnership aligns with the Vikings’ ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for female athletes. Since 2022, the organization has allocated over $600,000 toward statewide and regional girls’ flag football efforts, aiming to reduce financial barriers and support program development across various educational levels.

The Vikings and representatives from the participating schools will host a press conference at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center on Wednesday, March 5, at 11:30 AM to provide further details and answer questions about the league.
