As we stray further from the Ohio State Buckeyes national championship victory and start to creep towards the start of the 2025 season with spring football getting underway in about a month, predictions about what’s to come are starting to emerge.

One of the most popular predictions to make, of course, is about who is going to be good next year, and who won’t. When forecasting this, you have a usual cast of teams who are mentioned at the top — Ohio State, the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, Oregon Ducks, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, to name a few.

But which teams are uniquely set up in 2025 to be dominant, and better than usual? That’s a different question, and one that several ESPN college football writers had a specific answer for.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers might just be set up for a special run this year.

With quarterback Cade Klubnik returning, and a stacked roster full of veterans, Clemson is a popular pick to run through the ACC and make a strong chase at the national championship next season.

“This should be Dabo Swinney’s best team since his last national title in 2018,” ESPN’s Chris Low said. “QB Cade Klubnik is back for his fourth season. He has his top receivers returning. The defensive line should be much improved under the new coordinator, and most of the Tigers’ toughest games are at home.”

After winning the ACC and getting the final seed in the College Football Playoff a year ago, the Tigers should be ready to take things a step further in 2025. Not only are they better than the 2024 team, but ESPN’s Adam Rittenburg views this roster as one similar to Clemson’s national championship rosters of the past decade.

“The exciting thing is that in 2025 the Tigers should be even better and more reflective of the teams that Swinney led to national championships,” Rittenburg wrote. “They have one of the nation’s most experienced quarterbacks in Klubnik, who will operate under coordinator Garrett Riley for the third straight year. Defensive line and wide receiver, two positions where Clemson has historically thrived under Swinney, are once again projected strengths.”

There are going to be other interesting teams in the ACC for the Tigers to contend with this year, namely the Miami Hurricanes, who will be led by Georgia transfer Carson Beck. But if recent results and projected talent tell us anything, Clemson should be a team to watch this upcoming season, and they could make a deep run when all is said and done.
