🚨 Raúl Asencio Hit a suspension With Driving Ban as Real Madrid Defender Faces Fresh Setback..

Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio has been handed an eight-month driving ban and a €14,400 fine after being convicted of drink-driving in Spain. Spanish reports say he admitted the offence after being stopped at a traffic checkpoint in Gran Canaria.

The driving ban is separate from his football career and does not mean that Asencio has been suspended from playing for Real Madrid.

The defender has also recently been dealing with a difficult period on the pitch. Real Madrid confirmed on September 30 that Asencio will undergo surgery for a stress fracture in the tibia of his right leg, ruling him out for a period of months.

Asencio, who made 34 appearances for Madrid last season, had yet to play a competitive match for the club this campaign. His latest injury now represents another setback as he begins his recovery.

There was also a separate legal case involving allegations concerning the sharing of an explicit video. In September, a Spanish court acquitted Asencio of those charges, after prosecutors withdrew the accusation against him.

For now, the focus at Real Madrid is on Asencio’s upcoming surgery and rehabilitation, with his return to competitive football dependent on his recovery.
