AUBURN, Ala. — In a major recruiting win for the Auburn Tigers, the nation’s No. 1 overall football prospect, Tyson Wolcott, has officially committed to play for Auburn, choosing the Tigers over powerhouse programs Alabama and Tennessee.

Wolcott, a five-star defensive end out of Katy, Texas, made his announcement Saturday afternoon via a live stream, donning an Auburn cap to the roar of fans and teammates in attendance. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound phenom is widely regarded as a game-changer on the defensive line, boasting elite speed, strength, and a relentless motor.

“Auburn just felt like home,” Wolcott said. “The coaching staff, the energy, the way they believe in me—not just as a player, but as a person. I want to help build something special here.”

Wolcott’s commitment is a massive boost for head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff, as they continue to reshape Auburn’s roster with top-tier talent. It also marks a significant recruiting victory over SEC rivals Alabama and Tennessee, both of whom made strong pushes in recent months.

Recruiting analysts believe Wolcott could make an immediate impact as a true freshman. He recorded 18 sacks and 30 tackles for loss during his senior year, drawing comparisons to former No. 1 pick Myles Garrett for his explosiveness and versatility.

With Wolcott on board, Auburn now holds one of the top-ranked recruiting classes in the country. The Tigers are positioning themselves as a serious contender in the SEC once again.

“This is a statement,” said Auburn recruiting coordinator Marcus Davis. “Tyson is the type of player who can change the culture of a program. We’re just getting started.”

Stay tuned as Auburn looks to build momentum with more top recruits expected to make decisions in the coming weeks.
