While promoting their second album, the singers clarified the decades-long speculations in an interview with People. When asked if they knew of the romance rumors about them, Robert Plant noted that they knew. He clarified by stating the kind of chemistry and relationship between him and Alison Krauss:
“But not that one. We have a musical one. Because if we had that one, we’d be in trouble now. Trouble, party of one.”

Speaking to The Los Angeles Times in 2022, the stars were asked to describe their relationship. Alison Krauss explained, ‘We are happily incompatible.” Plant, who once struggled with his health, then attested to it by stating, “That’s probably right. I do still like you, though.” Referencing other male-female musical duos, Plant continued:
“We’re not Dale & Grace or Sonny & Cher, but we’ve definitely got something in on. We’ve got two different lives running. Alison’s a lot more private than I am. I’m out in the floods. I’ve lived where I’ve always lived.”
