🚨 DAWN STALEY SPEAKS OUT AS SOUTH CAROLINA PREPARES FOR HISTORIC OUTDOOR GAME! 🏀
South Carolina women’s basketball is preparing for an unusual start to its 2026–27 campaign, with Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks set to play College of Charleston in an outdoor exhibition at Credit One Stadium in Charleston on September 27.
The matchup marks the first outdoor game in South Carolina women’s basketball program history. However, the unusual setting has raised questions about the playing surface and weather conditions.
Staley acknowledged that court conditions are a serious consideration, saying the team will use the earlier games scheduled at the venue to assess the surface before deciding whether it is safe to play. Player safety, she emphasized, remains the priority.
South Carolina also enters the new season with a reshaped roster. The Gamecocks added Brooke Quarles-Daniels after Maddy McDaniel’s departure, giving Staley another option as the team adjusts to its personnel changes.
With the outdoor court, changing weather conditions and a new-look roster, attention will be firmly on Staley and South Carolina when the historic exhibition gets underway.
