BREAKING: Oklahoma Defensive Tackle DaJon Terry Commits to Ohio State football Flipping from the Sooners to the Ohio State…

Former Ohio State football players take a lot of pride in their school. A lot of Buckeyes love to come back and watch games and are very involved with the program. A fair amount of Buckeyes actually work in the media, including one of the most prominent voices in college football.

That former Buckeye is Kirk Herbstreit. He played for the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 90s. He was in the news on Sunday for his comment about Ohio State playing at home. His son, Chase Herbstreit, plays high school football for St. Xavier down in Cincinnati, and is a class of 2025 quarterback.

The younger Herbstreit was not a very highly recruited quarterback. He didn’t have any scholarship offers until recently. That’s when Michigan decided to send him an offer. He has accepted, and he is now the newest member of TTUN’s 2025 recruiting class.

Son of a former Ohio State football player commits to Michigan

Herbstreit joins Michigan’s class, which already includes Bryce Underwood, the top recruit in the entire country. Herbstreit likely won’t play at all while he’s there, which makes the decision to attend TTUN that much more puzzling. Why not go anywhere

else?

With the new structure of college football and NIL, walk-ons are pretty much going to be eliminated. He likely would have had to walk on at another program. Perhaps he didn’t want to do that, even though he’d have no issue affording school. A scholarship offer anywhere was good enough for him.

Had he decided to join the Ohio State football program, he wouldn’t have played there either. It’s a very strange decision, but it clearly wasn’t his father’s choice. I can’t imagine that he would be thrilled that one of his children would commit to his rival school.

Ohio State needs to start beating Michigan again. If they do, Chase Herbstreit will be on the wrong side of the rivalry.
