Tennis star Paula Badosa has revealed she was too “scared” to compete for Spain at the Paris Olympics as she deals with a chronic back injury that has threatened to end her career. The 26-year-old has instead followed Emma Raducanu to the Citi DC Open in Washington, with the Briton also turning down the opportunity to compete in Paris.
She was forced to miss three Grand Slams last year but entered the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon this year, succumbing to Donna Vekic in the fourth round at the All England Club in July.
